iPad: The Podcast App with VoiceOver

Step 1.    Locate the iPad pod casts application on your home page by moving your finger around the screen, until you hear the narrator announce Pod casts, then double tap to open.

When the Pod casts application is open the narrator will announce Pod cast, probably followed by the announcement that you are focused on the 'Edit button'.

Step 2.     Once you have opened the pod cast application, you can move your finger down the left hand side of the screen until you hear the narrator announce the available pod cast provider or host that you are interested in. Currently on your iPad you have an Apple vis pod cast provider followed by In Touch pod cast provider, containing news for blind people.

Note: instead of moving your finger around the left hand side of the screen, you can flick left or right to move around all the current items on the  screen until you again hear the narrator announce the pod cast providers that are loaded into your device; so the list on the left hand side of the screen contains the pod cast providers you are currently connected to.

Moving your finger, or flicking left or right will both take you to the pod cast providers currently available.

Step 3.     Once you hear your desired pod cast provider announced then you can flick up or down to listen to the available options, when you hear, activate item, then double tap to select the pod cast provider you want to make current.

Once you have double tapped the selected pod cast provider, the right hand side of the screen is updated to show the selected pod casts available from that provider, you may now select from the list of pod casts available.

Step 4.      Select the pod cast you want to hear by either moving your finger down the right hand side of the screen or flicking left or right, until you hear the narrator announce your desired pod cast.

Step 5.     Once the narrator has announced your pod cast just double tap to start the pod cast player.

Step 6.     To pause the pod cast player navigate to the pause button with one finger, this is just above the home button at the bottom centre of the screen. Once the narrator announces pause, then just double tap to pause the player. Double tapping again anywhere will start the player. Double tapping again will pause the player, so you can double tap to start and stop the player at any time once you have first located and activated the pause button.

Step 7.     To exit the player altogether, double tap on the home button to start the application switcher, from here you can close all applications including the pod cast in the normal manor, by a three finger flick up.

So you have to remember the basic steps to follow.
First start the pod cast application.
Then select the pod cast provider, Apple Vis or In touch for example.
Then once you have chosen your pod cast provider, you must select which actual pod cast from that provider you want to listen to, it’s a bit like selecting a record, then selecting a track from the record, it's a two stage process before you hear the track or pod cast you want to listen to.
